1999, to celebrate the Millenium François COORENS marks the occasion and started to paint a canvas a day during the last hundred days before hitting the year 2000, the canvas were designed around the theme of Grendizer. One Picasso’s quote gave the last big boost to launch the artist career, an incredible coincidence. “Inspired by Picasso, I was using a diary as a logbook, the quote of the day on the 31st of December was: “If there was only one truth, then painting a hundred canvases around one theme would not be possible. Picasso””.
The “Goldomania” (Grendizermania) will be exposed on theatre Marni in Brussels. A contemporary artist with punk and rock influences, his figurative and deconstructed artwork occurred by accident. “One day I accidently upturned an expensive paint pot on a piece of work while painting, to save some of it I started scraping the canvas. What came out of it amazed me and the result actually pleased me. My style was there”.
